TOGETHER / UNIFY ACOUSTIC PERFORMANCE STUDY
CREATING GUIDELINES FOR EXPANSION
Interdisciplinary Architecture led an acoustical performance study of Together and Unify, two active presentation and broadcast venues on LinkedIn’s Mountain View campus. The work was undertaken to evaluate how the spaces perform during live events, recordings, and internal broadcasts, and to identify opportunities to improve clarity, consistency, and overall audio quality for speakers and audiences.
The study centered on understanding how the existing spaces function in real world use, where speech intelligibility, amplification, and operational reliability are critical to production.
MEASUREMENT-DRIVEN ANALYSIS
The investigation included on-site acoustic measurements evaluating reverberation, speech intelligibility, and electroacoustic system behavior. RWDI provided specialist acoustical analysis and translated the resulting data into a clear assessment of how architectural conditions and audio system configuration interact during live use.
The study revealed that aspects of system setup and calibration played a significant role in limiting performance consistency across seating areas and event types.
TRANSLATING FINDINGS INTO ACTIONABLE GUIDANCE
Based on the findings, Interdisciplinary Architecture and RDWI developed targeted recommendations addressing loudspeaker alignment, signal timing, system calibration, and operational presets. These measures were cost-effective means of optimizing acoustic performance. By focusing on system behavior rather than reconstruction, the study enabled immediate performance improvements while also informing LinkedIn’s broader production standards to support consistency performance across current and future venues.
